Listing is free
You can publish without paying to list. Fees only apply when a booking is paid and completed.
For owners
CoHire helps local owners rent out tools and equipment they already own. This page explains how listing works, how you get paid, how bookings stay on the platform, and what happens if something goes wrong.
Listing is free
You can publish without paying to list. Fees only apply when a booking is paid and completed.
You set the price
Choose a 1-day rate. Optional 3-day and 7-day rates help longer hires feel like better value.
Small service fee at checkout
A small service fee may apply at checkout. The amount is shown clearly before anyone confirms payment.
5% success fee
After a successful hire, CoHire takes a 5% success fee from your earnings. You stay in control of requests and availability.
From listing to payout
Five calm steps from photos to payout. You review every request, and the renter pays on CoHire before handover.
Add clear photos, an honest description, category, pickup location, and your daily rate. You can publish when the details feel right.
New listings usually need phone verification before they publish. Complete the prompt when it appears so local renters can find you.
Renters send dates and a short message. Approve the request if it looks right, or decline it. Chat stays on the platform so pickup details stay clear.
After payment, arrange a safe pickup or delivery. Record condition with photos at handover and return so both of you have a shared record.
When the hire is complete and the dispute window has passed, your payout is released to your connected Stripe bank account, minus the 5% success fee. No cash and no chasing invoices.
Before you publish
Have these ready and you can usually publish in a few minutes. You can edit anything later from Listings.
You need to be signed in and at least 18. Keep your profile details accurate so renters know who they are renting from.
Show the whole item, close-ups of condition, and any accessories. Several honest photos help people trust the listing.
This is required. 3-day and 7-day rates are optional. If you are unsure, CoHire can suggest starting prices from similar local listings.
Link an address so renters know where the hire is based. You choose a safe handover spot when a booking is confirmed.
Enter a good-faith estimate of what you could sell the item for today in its current condition. This is not insurance and not a guaranteed payout.
New listings usually ask you to verify your phone before they go live. It is a quick step that helps renters feel confident they are booking with a real local owner.
Money, explained
Listing is free. A small service fee may apply at checkout. After a successful hire, CoHire takes a 5% success fee from your earnings. Payouts go to the bank account you connect through Stripe.
Connect payouts from Earnings. Full fee and payout rules are in the Terms and conditions.
Trust and care
CoHire is built for clearer local hires. It is not a substitute for your own insurance. Photos, on-platform booking, and prompt notice help if something goes wrong.
Secure payments, dispute help, and fee rules only apply when the hire is booked and paid through the platform.
Take clear, dated photos within 24 hours before pickup, then again at return. CoHire can also send a secure link to record proof.
Renters are expected to return the item in the same condition. If something goes wrong, CoHire may try to recover reasonable amounts from the saved card on the booking.
If we cannot recover costs from the renter's card, CoHire may still look at limited discretionary support up to AUD $1,000 per booking. This is not insurance and does not replace your own cover, but it is there as an extra layer of help when things go wrong.
Read the Lender platform support page for caps, evidence, and what is not covered.
Get more bookings
Clear photos, honest copy, fair pricing, and quick replies make it easier for nearby renters to choose you.
Show scale, condition, and what is included. Listings with more than one clear photo tend to get more interest.
A short description, what it is for, and any safety notes help renters choose the right item and look after it.
Check similar listings nearby. Optional 3-day and 7-day rates can make longer bookings more appealing.
Fast, kind replies help bookings go ahead. You can approve or decline from Bookings or the message thread.
Block dates you need the item yourself. Accurate availability avoids cancelled requests later.
A link to Facebook, Gumtree, or a neighbourhood group can help nearby people find an item that is already listed on CoHire.
